busy crowdAs we were working on this month's theme, God warned me against business, not just with work, but with any high and lofty thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. What captivates our minds? What are the things that wrestle with God's desires for our lives? These things that we are busy with steal our gaze away from the only One who is worthy.

As RJ described (in our Soul Food Section), a juggler must focus on the top ball to keep on juggling. Likewise, we must set our sights up onto the One who deserves our every breathe and praise. Because as we choose to revere God's will through our wholehearted obedience, we end up choosing what is best for us, that which allows us to live our lives to the full - whether in China or right here in the Philippines.

I remember what Jay, who is leading The Gathering Accenture, said about his career as a Software Engineer. He says that for him, life is not about pursuing a better career or financial opportunity. Everything revolves around obedience to the Holy Spirit. Because he chooses to serve God first, he finds fulfillment in the inside, unlike most people who seem to never find satisfaction no matter how successful they are professionally.

We were all given balls of possibilities to juggle but if we focus of these 'other things' rather than on God who must be placed above every other concern that we have, we will eventually lose them. Worse, unaware of it, we let go of an opportunity to serve a greater purpose, a destiny than can only be fulfilled if we are in the center of the will of God.

Don't you notice that every time you put God first, blessings just begin to flow? Even our missionary to China (in Astig Ka!) had the most peaceful sleep right after he said 'yes' to God's tough call.

Perhaps it's time to ask the hard questions: Are we busy running hard after things are not part of God's plan for us? Are we justifying the necessity and significance of our present involvements that pull us away from our Maker? There is a world out there or just right under our noses, waiting for God's Word to be preached to them. Could it be that what we think is 'a good life,' is actually robbing us of 'a full life.'

If we are busy doing our own thing rather than pursuing God's great calling, then we're missing God's best...

Let us ask God to open our eyes. Let's lift our vision higher! There is something greater than what we have planned out for ourselves and it will only happen if we choose God over all else.
