“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves…” Proverbs 31:8

All of us were created by God in our mother’s womb. Psalm 139:13 says, “For You created my inmost being, You knit me together in my mother’s womb.” Every baby in a woman’s womb therefore, is precious to God. Now how does God feel whenever a precious creation of His is killed – torn limb from limb – in the womb? God’s heart breaks. His Father Heart of God breaks for these precious children deprived of that chance to live because of the horrible practice of abortion.

This was what God impressed last April 2006 upon the heart of Dr. Lissa Apolinario-Poblete, Founder and Director of Christian Pro-life Resources for the Philippines. She was attending the Azusa Centennial Celebration as part of the Jesus Revolution Now delegation together with her husband Dr. Angelo Poblete when she asked the Lord what His purpose for her was. God then impressed to her to approach Pastor Herman Martir of Jesus Revolution USA for prayer. During the prayer, the Lord gave her a vision of a sea of aborted babies in their own blood. The Lord impressed upon her how much His heart was broken for the unborn babies who have been killed, and that she must begin to intercede and speak up for them. It was also impressed to her that the blood of these infants was crying out to God just as Abel’s blood cried out to God. She understood that she had to do something to answer those cries for Him. After that experience, Dra. Lissa knew that her purpose in life had something to do with that vision God imparted to her.

The Unborn Generation: The Future Generation

Psalm 22 says, “Posterity will serve Him, future generations will be told about the Lord. They will proclaim His righteousness to a people yet unborn, for He has done it.” The Lord impressed upon Dra. Lissa to reach a generation of Filipino youth about the humanity of the unborn so that they will never consider abortion as an option and thus preserve the future generation - the unborn generation. Intercession for the Unborn Babies and their Mothers.

Several months later, in October 2006, the Lord reminded Dra. Lissa of the vision He had given. This happened while she was listening to recordings of intercession for unborn babies and their mothers by the Justice House of Prayer (JHOP), a movement which was founded in the U.S. by Lou Engle in order to intercede for the overturning of abortion by the U.S. Supreme Court. Using these prayers, the Lord started to stir up in her heart the fire of intercession for the unborn babies and their mothers. Later on, the Lord also impressed upon her to start a blog in order to reach the Filipino youth who spend a lot of time on the internet. And that was what she did. And though the blog had very few hits for several months, she continued to post pro-life articles, pictures, links from the internet, as well as her own articles. Glory to God, now the blog has already garnered more than 5,000 hits. Diary of an Unborn Baby: Giving the Babies a Voice.

In January 2007, the Lord gave Dra. Lissa another idea. It was to print pro-life fliers about the “Diary of An Unborn Baby,” which will be for mass distribution in schools, churches and doctor’s clinics. With the help of a friend, “Diary of An Unborn Baby” was also translated into Filipino as “Talaarawan ng Sanggol sa Sinapupunan.” Dr. and Dra. Poblete initially printed 1,000 fliers from their own pocket and have been regularly doing so ever since. The fliers were given out for free. They have been able to distribute the fliers from as far north as Ilocos Norte and down to Cebu, Bacolod, and Zamboanga City. Thanks to courier services. To this date, a total of 12,000 pieces of fliers have been printed for free distribution. Three Babies Saved by the Fliers.

Perhaps, one would wonder how effective could a flier be. Here’s one story that has been an inspiration and encouragement to Dra. Lissa:

A friend of hers who works as a nurse in a company clinic agreed to distribute the fliers to the company’s employees. One time, a woman employee came up to her (the nurse) and told her about her crisis pregnancy. The nurse gave the woman a flier and after reading it the woman decided, “I’m keeping my baby”. There have been two other instances wherein Dra. Lissa knew that women in crisis pregnancies have decided to keep their babies after reading the fliers. Dr. and Dra. Poblete are filled with joy every time they hear these stories because they know that even just one baby’s life saved, makes all the time and money spent on the fliers worth it.

Pro-Life Exhibit

Just recently, God has taken this movement further with the very first pro-life multimedia exhibit by Christian Pro-life Resources. The exhibit, with title and theme “EAC Loves Life: EAC Upholds Life in the Womb,” was held at the Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) in Manila last September 29, 2007. It was done in cooperation with the Central Student Council of EAC and featured several pieces of pro-life artwork by E.R. Arroyo, an AB Fine Arts graduate of University of the East Caloocan. Posters of fetal development from Pro-life Philippines, and two pro-life picture collages printed on large tarpaulins, were also featured. A mini-concert was also made possible by JREV worship team members Emmanuel Cauriz and Luke Bayhon who gave a live performance singing the pro-life song “Is There Room” by Jason Upton.

Future Plans

Dr. and Dra. Poblete hope to bring the pro-life exhibit to a campus and church tour as the Lord would open doors and lead them. They hope to reach high schools and colleges as well as target nursing school students for the exhibit and for flier distribution since ‘maternal and child nursing’ is a subject in the nursing curriculum. And of course, they will also be producing fliers regularly. They plan to set up Christian Pro-life Resources as a non-profit foundation soon and to one day include counseling for women in crisis pregnancies, a mercy ministry for women in crisis pregnancies, as well as post-delivery support, in their ministry. God has been opening doors for the pro-life ministry that He has given them. God has given them His heart for the unborn and their mothers and they delight to serve His heart. On the other hand, we at kristiyanongpinoy believe that God is faithful and will grant the desires of those who delight in Him.

Dra. Lissa Poblete is married to Dr. Angelo Poblete. They have two lovely boys. She is a dentist by profession. You may visit Pro-Life Resources Blog at http://www.proliferesources.com.
